My Closet Cleanout Tips
Are you ready to clean out your closet? You’ve come to the right place! Cleaning out your closet is such a good refresh, for you AND your wardrobe. I try to do it every year at least, but it’s great as we move into a new season! Cleaning things out really helps when you’re getting ready in the morning. Plus, knowing what to look out for when you’re shopping!
Choose an afternoon (or a day or a weekend) and start cleaning!

Lay It ALL Out
First thing’s first, you’ve got to see what you have. Out of sight out of mind is SO REAL! The best way to do this is to completely unload your closet -- put everything out on your bed or your floor so you can see it all. The best part about doing this is rediscovering some pieces you might’ve forgotten about... it’s like shopping in your own closet!
Ask Yourself Some Questions
Okay now that you’ve got everything laid out, you need to talk to yourself. Seriously! Talk to yourself! Every time I clean out my closet I ask myself a few questions to decide what I want to keep and what I’m ready to get rid of. Here are the questions I ask myself:
When was the last time I wore this?
If I haven’t reached for it in a couple of months or within the last season it might be time to say goodbye.
Is this still in style?
If something was super trendy a few seasons ago, there’s a good chance I won’t reach for it anymore!
Do I really need it?
Sometimes you can end up with multiples… multiple black tops… multiple bodysuits or sweat sets… so choose what you really love and sell or donate the rest!
Donate + Consign
So you’ve got a pile of clothes that you’re ready to say goodbye to… what next? You’ve got a few options… Things that might not ‘spark joy’ for you, might spark joy for someone else! Decide what you’d like to donate and what you’d like to sell.
Recently, I’ve been obsessed with Poshmark! Check out my page here. It’s such a great way to resell the clothes, shoes, & accessories you might not be in love with anymore. Not to mention, it’s a great place to SHOP, too. I won’t lie, it’s kind of addicting!!
